                           Opener Problem Revisited

Look at the situation from the Opener Problem again. Can you answer

                        the questions now?

Jad is riding his bike in a race.
He is travelling at a constant

speed. He is thinking about the
journey and wants to know how
fast he is moving. Jad thinks
                        he is moving slowly because

the boy on the bike next to him
does not look to be moving very
                        fast. Jad’s father is watching
and he says that Jad is moving much faster than he thinks. He tells

Jad that if he wants to go even faster, he needs to change the forces
                        acting on the bike.
                        Think about these questions:

How can Jad find out how fast he is moving?

Why does Jad think he is moving slowly?
Why does his father say that Jad is moving faster than he thinks he
                        is?

What forces are acting on the bike?

Are the forces balanced or unbalanced?
What forces does Jad need to change?

How can Jad show the information about his journey to his teacher at
                        school?
