                       Let’s Learn

All matter is made of atoms. Atoms are made of -
                    protons, neutrons and electrons. - + +
                                                                                              +

                                                                                            -

                    Protons have a positive charge.

Neutrons are neutral; they do not have a charge.

                    Electrons have a negative charge.

Atoms have the same number of protons and electrons, so the electric
charge of an atom is neutral.

In some materials, electrons can move from one
                    atom to another.
If the number of protons and electrons in a

particle is not the same, the particle becomes
                    positively charged or negatively charged.

This particle is positively charged. Why?

This particle is negatively charged. Why?
