Think!
The freezing point of water is 0°C. What happens to ice when the temperature
goes above 0°C?
Climate change has a big effect on the water cycle. Temperature is very
important for what happens in the water cycle. Changes in temperature can
cause changes of state. If the temperature on Earth starts to get higher, this
can change the way water moves in the water cycle.
• Water may evaporate more quickly from the ground into the air to make
clouds. This can make some areas very dry, because the water in the clouds
may move to a different area before it falls as precipitation.
• More water vapour in the clouds may cause more rainfall in some areas,
which can cause flooding.
