                       Let’s Learn

Liquid water changes into a gas when water

                    molecules evaporate.
                    Evaporation happens more quickly when

water boils, but water does not have to boil to
                    evaporate.

In the liquid state, water molecules all move at
different speeds because they have different
amounts of energy. When molecules with
more energy get to the surface of the water,

they can break free from the other molecules
                    and change into a gas.

When the temperature of the water increases,
evaporation happens more quickly. This is
because more of the molecules have enough
energy to break free from the liquid state and

                    change into a gas.

There are examples of evaporation all around us.
