Think!
What happens when two objects have different electric charges?

What happens when two objects have the same electric charge?

If an object keeps gaining electrons, a potential difference happens between

the charged object and other objects. This means the charged object has
                  more electrical energy.
If the potential difference is large enough between two objects, electrons can

jump across the space from one object to the other, to reduce the difference
in charge. This is what happens when you feel a shock or see a spark.

It is also what happens when you see lightning in the sky.

1 Why do we get lightning?

2 Which objects have a potential difference during a storm?

3 Do some research to find out how lightning is made. Look in books or on
the Internet, or ask someone about lightning.
