                       Let’s Learn

Substances that dissolve in liquids are called soluble substances. Sugar and
salt are examples of soluble substances.

When a substance dissolves in water, you cannot see it anymore; it looks
                    like it has disappeared.

The solution that is formed when a substance dissolves is transparent.
The substance that dissolves is called the solute and the liquid that the
substance dissolves in is called the solvent.

                    Think!
What really happens to a solid when it dissolves?

Substances that do not dissolve in water are called insoluble substances.
Flour and sand are examples of insoluble substances.
