Remember that the Earth does not stand up straight. It is tilted
on its axis.

We have seasons because Earth is tilted. In summer our part
of Earth leans nearer to the Sun. The weather is warmer.
The daytimes are also longer in summer. The Sun rises earlier
and sets later.
In winter our part of Earth leans away from the Sun.
The weather is colder. The daytimes are also shorter in winter.
The Sun rises later and sets earlier.
