                       Let’s Learn

Speed is a measure of how fast something is moving.

We can use adjectives to describe the speed of an object or person, but
sometimes we need to know exactly how fast something is moving.

You can use a formula to work out the average speed if you know the
distance travelled and the time taken to travel that distance.

                                                distance
                                                                   speed =    distance
                                                                                 time
                                             speed time

Speed, distance and time are all related to each other.
If you have any two measurements from the triangle you can find out the
                    other one:

                                           distance
                                                                           distance

                                       speed time
                                                                        speed time

time = distance distance = speed × time
                                             speed

We decide what units to use for speed when we know the units used for

                    time and distance.
