                Sun Patterns

The pictures in the Let's Start show the Sun. The Sun is our

nearest star. It gives us light and heat. It looks like the Sun

comes to the sky at sunrise. Then it looks like it moves across

the sky. First, it looks like it gets higher. Then it starts to go

lower. At sunset the Sun looks like it moves away and we

cannot see it. We see this pattern every day.

                Moon Patterns

The Moon is a satellite of the Earth.
Look at these pictures of the Moon.

The pictures show the Moon on

                different days each month.

It does this every month. Which of

                these Moons have you seen?

                Star Patterns

Look at this map of the stars.

Star maps are pictures that show the

stars in the sky. They look different at

                different places in the world.

They are also different at different
                times of the year.
