State – The form in which matter exists: solid, liquid or gas.

Static electricity – An electrical charge that builds up on the surface of some
                 objects.

                 Stationary – Not moving.
Steep – A slope that rises of falls at a sharp angle.

Sublimation – When a solid changes to a gas.

Sublime – To change a solid straight into a gas with no liquid.
Surface area – The total area of the surface of an object.

Suspend – When something hangs or floats in a liquid.

Suspension – A liquid that has small pieces of solid in it but the solid is not
                 dissolved.
Temperature – How hot or cold something is.

Thermal equilibrium – When there is no temperature difference between two
                 objects or substances.

Thermometer – An object used to measure how hot or cold something is.
Transfer – To move from one place or object to another.

Transparent – Something you can see through.

Unbalanced – One side is different to the other side.
Vibrate – Move backwards and forwards very quickly and many times in the
                 same place.

Volume – How much space something takes up.

Water cycle – How water moves between the oceans, the sky and the land.
Water treatment plant – A place where water is made safe to drink.

Water vapour – Water when it is a gas.

Watt – The standard unit of electrical power.
Wedge – A piece of wood or metal in the shape of a triangle.

Weight – The amount of gravitational pull.
Well – A deep hole in the ground from which you can get water.

Wheel – A circular object, connected to a bar (axle), that vehicles move on. A
                 bicycle has two wheels.

Work – Work happens as a result of a force.
