                       Let’s Learn

Domestic energy is the energy we use in our homes for lighting, heating
and cooking. We also use it to power all of the appliances and devices that
                    we use.

Can you remember where this energy comes from?

Much of the energy we use is electrical energy, which is often made from

fossil fuels in a power station. This power station burns coal to make
                    electricity.

We also use natural gas and oil as energy sources in our homes.

Energy from fossil fuels is non-renewable energy. This is because fossil

fuels cannot be replaced easily, because they take a long time to form.
They can also be bad for the environment. However, they are very efficient
because they make a lot of energy. They are also easy to store and
                    transport.

Not all energy is made from fossil fuels. We can also make electricity
from renewable energy sources, such as wind energy, solar energy,
                    hydropower, geothermal energy and biomass.
